Support Our Mission

With your contribution, CARE can continue our mission to positively impact the lives of those struggling with an eating disorder.

Give A Gift to CARE

Why support eating disorders research?

Eating disorders affect 13-15% of women and 3-5% of men at some point in their lives and are the second deadliest mental illness.

Eating disorders are also the second leading cause of mental health-related disability in girls and women aged 10 to 25 and the most common mental health diagnosis in college students.

Despite these staggering statistics, funding for eating disorders research remains disturbingly low. Federal support for eating disorders research is approximately $0.73 per affected individual. In contrast, research for autism spectrum disorder was supported at a rate of $58.65 per individual affected and schizophrenia research at a rate of $86.97 per affected individual.

By contributing $100 or more, you can champion eating disorders research and help sustain our work. Your help is vital in furthering our mission to improve eating disorder screening, make treatment more accessible and affordable, and help prevent relapse.

Why support CARE?

Our team has a proven and measurable track record of tangible accomplishments in our research.

Our achievements include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating groundbreaking screening tools that better identify eating disorders in men
  • Developing an assessment that is currently used throughout the Veterans Health Administration to assess for eating disorders in veterans
  • Designing a brief mobile-health treatment that has led to recovery for college students in as little as 11 weeks

With your support, CARE can continue our mission and positively impact the lives of those struggling with an eating disorder. Your contribution will be used to support training graduate students and developing innovative treatments that work to reach more people who cannot otherwise afford care, including people living in rural areas.

Thank you!
