Smart Technology for Anorexia Nervosa Recovery (STAR)
If you are a teen, young adult, or parent of a child struggling with an eating disorder who has recently been discharged from a higher level of care, you may qualify to participate in our research study.
What is STAR?
Smart Technology for Anorexia Nervosa Recovery, or STAR, is a free, low-commitment mHealth app that supports clients and therapists focused on maintaining the important gains made in acute treatment and kicking “ED” to the curb! The app provides evidence-based mHealth treatment designed to address eating disorder concerns for clients aged 13-21. The app also provides support to therapists, who can track patient wellness and recovery via an easy-to-use online dashboard.
Why is STAR Necessary?
Eating disorders have become more prevalent among adolescents and young adults. While specialty eating disorder treatments have been effective, relapse rates for young people with eating disorders remain high. Plus, there aren’t many tools for therapists to track and measure their patients’ progress in treatment, making it difficult to prevent relapse.
STAR's Mission
Our focus is to help adolescents and young adults in treatment for an eating disorder recover, and STAY recovered, while in outpatient treatment while also providing therapists with data-driven insights that can help inform their approach to treatment. In doing so, we aim to improve outcomes for adolescents struggling with these complex and challenging disorders.
