Military Mental Health Research Study
What is our Military Mental Health Study?
The CARE Team is developing the first disordered eating screening tool specifically for military personnel and veterans. This tool will help the military mental healthcare system better identify and respond to problematic eating & exercise behaviors, symptoms of trauma, and risks to the overall well-being of service members. Service members across the nation are sharing their experiences in confidential surveys and interviews to make this possible.
Why is this study necessary?
Military members experience increased risk of developing eating disorders, but they also face unique barriers to accessing treatment. Current mental-health screening tools were not developed for military members, leaving many service members with unmet healthcare needs. Imprecise screening tools make preventing eating disorders before they fully develop even more difficult.
Our Mission
Our focus is on helping any service member receive necessary disordered eating support. By understanding military-specific risks and behaviors, we can improve both eating disorder screening and eating disorder prevention measures.
