Biography —
Alysia Martinez is a project coordinator for the CARE and COPE lab, primarily managing the BEST-U study. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Kansas in 2025. Alysia intends to apply to Clinical Psychology Ph.D. programs in the future. In her free time, she enjoys learning foreign languages, watercolor painting, and going to concerts.

Research —
Alysia is interested in the intersections between language choice and linguistic relativity and disordered eating behaviors and recovery. Using these insights, she is interested in developing interventions that are emotionally informed and establishing a better understanding of the roles cognitive affect and language play in eating disorder recovery. She is also interested in psycholinguistic work pertaining to indigenous languages and language revitalization.
